Do Blotch Frames have touchscreen capabilities?
There will not be a touchscreen on the Blotch Frame. We believe that the best way to interact with the Frame is via our Console and iOS/Android app, where you can customize and control your Frame.
Is there a subscription model?
No, there is no subscription model. You pay once and you get access to all the Widgets and features. We are building a community of creators and users, and we believe that adding a subscription model would not be inline with our mission.
Is it battery powered? How do you charge it?
It is powered by a Lithium Ion battery, re-chargeable via USB-C.
Will you be releasing X Widget?
If there is an API, then we can likely create it. Join our VIP group and request for it and we will do our best to create it. Once we launch, all of us can create Widgets, share ideas and our creations to the community.
When will the Blotch Frame be released?
Currently on track to release our Kickstarter/Indiegogo campaign in October 2024.
What’s the battery life?
Blotch will have months of battery life because 99% of the time, it will be sleeping. Only when it needs to update the e-ink display it will turn on, retrieve data and update the Frame. Since our displays use e-ink technology, it does not need to be actively powered to display information.
How do you customize the Widgets?
Creators of Widgets can add inputs to Widgets. Once you have your Widget installed, you can add input parameters to the Widget to customize its behavior. For example, for a weather Widget, the inputs may be location, and temperature unit
How often does my Frame update?
On the Console, you will see a timeline of Pages (a page is a layout of Widgets) and your current time. Blotch Frames keep track of this time and what's currently shown. When there is a new page, it will then refresh. It only updates when it needs to!
We also provide a refresh interval setting for a page which can be set to as low as one minute. This is useful for scenarios where you want more live up to date information.
